Art and Design

The Art and Design curriculum across the Middle Section aims to stimulate, encourage and develop the ability to:

  • Perceive, understand and express concepts and feelings;
    â—Ź Develop creative expression and sharpen senses through keen observation of the environment;
    â—Ź Think creatively.

Learners engage with different media and indulge in a variety of artistic techniques, including painting, drawing, designing, pen and ink, pointillism and much more. Through this instruction, they develop an appreciation for Art as a form of expression that knows no borders.

English Language

The overarching aims of the English Language curriculum for Years VII—IX at the Middle Section are to :

â—Ź Equip students with the skills of verbal and written communication in English, so that they are able to apply them in academic and everyday life situations expertly;
â—Ź Promote lifelong interest in reading, writing and spoken communication for cognitive, imaginative and social development.

English Literature

The English Literature curriculum is designed to help learners approach literary texts with a sense of enjoyment and enthusiasm. Learners engage with a range of texts, including poetry, prose and drama. They appreciate the writers’ use of language to convey meaning, and of expressing ideas and themes which extend beyond a particular society and time, developing an awareness of literature reflecting life.

ICT

The ICT curriculum allows learners to use technology in an integrated and holistic manner within real-life contexts. The course content equips learners to think critically and creatively and use technology effectively and ethically. Learners also acquire programming skills with a textual understanding of codes and learn how to use graphical tools creatively.

Islamiyat

The Islamiyat curriculum develops knowledge and understanding of Islam’s religion, history and culture. Learners engage with issues related to contemporary and historical issues within Islam by constructing well-balanced and structured arguments and reflecting on practices and their meanings.

Mathematics

Mathematics in the Middle Section aims to help students understand that the subject permeates all professions and is essential to everyday life. The curriculum develops deductive and inductive reasoning through a systematic line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, using appropriate mathematical language and representation.

Pakistan Studies

Learners develop an in-depth understanding of the history and geography of Pakistan. The history component provides insights into Pakistan’s origins, creation and development, and encourages discussion of issues facing Pakistan. The geography component builds an understanding of Pakistan’s physical features, human and natural resources, and economic development.

Physical Education

The main aim of the Physical Education curriculum at the Middle Section is to develop motor abilities of the students, like strength, endurance, coordination, flexibility, agility and balance, and enhancing skills, knowledge and understanding needed to take part in a range of physical activities.

The sports students are trained to play at the Section, both at inter-House and inter-school levels, include:
Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Cricket, Futsal, Netball, Rowing, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Throw ball, Volleyball.

An athletic sports day, one of the most eagerly awaited and highly charged events, is held annually, which comprises track and field events designed to test the three basic disciplines of running, jumping and throwing.

Science

The study of science aims to deepen the understanding of key scientific ideas and concepts, their nature and development, and the appreciation and application of science to society. It also develops skills and attitudes necessary for undertaking investigations.

Urdu

The Urdu curriculum aims to engender an appreciation of the language and enhance students’ oral and written expressions and fluency. Learners engage with literary texts and develop an understanding of ideas and themes which extend beyond a particular society and time.

World Geography

Learners focus on building awareness of diversified physical features and human cultures worldwide, and the impact both have on each other. The curriculum develops an understanding of the processes that give rise to physical phenomena and guides learners to make decisions that allow sustainability and preservation of the environment.

World History

The world history curriculum aims to identify challenges humans have faced in the cultural, scientific, economic, political, and other aspects of life and explain how they have responded to those challenges. Learners explore significant discoveries, inventions and scientific achievements, and assess their impact on society. They also reflect upon choices humans have made in the past, and evaluate significant turning points to assess their impact from a global perspective.

Student Health and Wellbeing (SHW)

To promote student health and wellbeing, Middle Section has an inbuilt SHW programme which includes sports, meditation, Art therapy, emotional intelligence and leadership modules.
