Karachi Grammar School had the privilege of welcoming back Mr. Omar Askari, a distinguished alumnus and renowned figure in the global finance and technology sector, to conduct a specialized coaching session on debate skills for our middle section students on Thursday, May 16th.

Mr. Askari, leveraging his extensive background as a championship-winning debater from both Karachi Grammar School and Brown University, provided our students with a rich insight into the art of debating. The session covered a range of critical topics, including the significant role of debate in shaping one’s analytical and public speaking skills, and the use of mental focus and controlled breathing to enhance oratory abilities.

A key focus of the session was on the mastery of logical fallacies and effective strategies for countering Points of Information, skills that are invaluable in the arena of competitive debating. Mr. Askari also emphasized the importance of maintaining form and structure in arguments, sharing personal anecdotes and techniques that have contributed to his own successes.

The students were particularly engaged by Mr. Askari’s narrative of his journey in debate, resonating with his stories of overcoming challenges and achieving excellence. His practical advice and interactive approach kept the students involved and eager to learn.
