The World Geography Department’s annual event, “Colloquy With The Experts,” held on March 11th, 2024. The event focused on analysing Pakistan’s Human Development Index (HDI). Drawing from their preliminary investigation on Pakistan’s HDI, Year VII students formulated questions regarding the causes of Pakistan’s low HDI ranking (161/192). During their session with the experts, they actively inquired about the factors contributing to Pakistan’s low HDI and engaged with a panel of experts including economists, educators, healthcare professionals, population analysts, and architects specialised in urban planning and infrastructure. Discussions revolved around the factors contributing to Pakistan’s low HDI. Economists highlighted economic disparities, educators emphasised education’s role, healthcare professionals discussed accessibility issues, population analysts analysed demographic trends, and architects offered insights into urban planning and infrastructure. Through this dialogue, students gained a deeper understanding of development complexities. The event left experts inspired by the students’ high-order thinking and in-depth investigation, while students departed with equipped with valuable insights to conclude their topic.
