A class trip to the dentist turned out to be a fun and valuable learning experience for our Year II children! Spread over a week, the children, accompanied by teachers and parents, visited a local dental practice. The friendly dentists, nurses, and hygienists welcomed the kids, who were then divided into groups to explore different areas.
In the clinical areas, the children got up close with dental equipment, including the dentist’s chair, and learned about keeping their teeth clean, how to brush and floss, and which foods help keep teeth healthy. The dental X-rays were a particular hit, sparking lots of curiosity! The sterilization room, with its modern cleaning devices and autoclave machine, also amazed the children.
Each child left with a dental goodie bag, complete with a hygiene kit, fun stickers, and an information booklet to reinforce their learning. The visit, part of their PSHE and Citizenship lessons, helped the children feel more comfortable with the dentist, learn the importance of oral health, and realize how visiting the dentist can be stress-free and even fun!
