Science activities in Prep encourage children to gather information about the world around them through authentic experiences that engage in insightful, inquisitive learning. They are introduced to the scientific method, including asking questions, gathering evidence, and sharing observations.

A visit from the school carpenter enabled children to explore the properties of materials, mainly metal and wood, in a rather novel way. They were fascinated when they observed how the carpenter used tools such as a hammer, chisel, saw, file, drill machine etc. to cut wood, smoothen the pieces, and then join them to make miniature furniture. The children thoroughly enjoyed  learning the names of various tools and their uses. An interactive discussion conducted mainly in Urdu, with some interesting questions posed by our young learners, further enhanced not only their scientific knowledge but also their vocabulary.

At the end of the activity the children thanked the carpenter for such an interesting and unique learning experience.
