The Kindergarten and Junior Sections welcomed parents and children to an Open
House on Friday, 18th August. This was held after a gap of four years due to the
restrictions imposed as a consequence of the pandemic.
This year’s Open House was the first of its kind. Kindergarten and Junior Section
families came in House wise, at staggered timings. Children had a first ever look at
their siblings’ classroom and many a JS student revisited the Kindergarten Section
and vice versa.
Students were well prepared and ready to introduce their parents to their teachers
and share an insider’s view of their classrooms and resource areas. They excitedly
took their parents around school, informing them of academic and non-academic
activities, projects, and assignments that they had participated in. Parents had the
invaluable opportunity to chat to teachers, learning first-hand about the curriculum,
and daily routines, as well as seeing the children’s work displayed on the walls.
Teachers had the opportunity to meet parents informally in the presence of the
students, discuss general questions, with an understanding that individual concerns
would be discussed later.
This positive and informative event proved to be a unique and invaluable way for
parents to better understand the average school day through the eyes of their
children and served as an avenue to strengthen the partnership between the school
and parents.
