As part of our topic Animals, the Nursery children had a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity on Monday, 16th February 2026, when we celebrated Pet Day!
The children learned that many animals share a home with people and, just like us, they need love, care, exercise, and kindness. To give them a first-hand opportunity to observe and learn, a variety of pets were invited to school along with their adult owners and caretakers. We were delighted to welcome cats, fish, birds, dogs, sheep, rabbits, turtles, and goats!
With lots of excitement and curiosity, the children observed the animals closely and even had the chance to touch some of them under careful supervision. It was a wonderful way for the children to practise being calm, caring, and respectful around living things.
Pet Day brought our topic to life in a meaningful way and helped the children develop empathy, responsibility, and confidence. The day was filled with wonder, learning, and many happy little smiles!
