The Kindergarten Section was ringing with excited chatter and laughter as pupils from all four year groups paraded as book characters from across different genres and from across the ages. This vibrant and lively Character Parade was the culmination of a week-long celebration of reading and reading related activities.

Led by our cheerful librarian, children paraded around the courtyard accompanied by the cheers, applause and encouragement of their teachers and fellow students, who had lined the pathway around the parade area. It was delightful to see the teachers and children’s enjoyment and enthusiasm throughout the event. Parents had earlier had the opportunity to take photos of their own children.

The Character Parade, which continues to get bigger and better, is a wonderful way to not only promote school-wide reading and a genuine love for books, but is also a much loved tradition that students, parents and teachers eagerly look forward to each year. As a teacher remarked, “We love this opportunity for students to participate in a fun event that highlights the colourful and creative aspects of reading.
