The Year VI students had the exciting opportunity to visit the State Bank of Pakistan Museum and Art Gallery, a one-of-a-kind institution in the country, which displayed a fascinating collection of memorabilia, highlighting Pakistan’s economic and banking heritage.
The children were divided into class groups, each accompanied by their teachers and a knowledgeable docent. As they explored the museum, they toured the seven galleries, discovering a wide variety of exhibits that included coins, banknotes, and historical artifacts. The docent shared insightful stories about the history of currency, explaining the significance of the various displays while answering the children’s questions throughout the informative tour.
The students were particularly captivated by the Sadequain Gallery, where they marveled at the large murals and intricate metal collages. One exhibit that sparked a lot of interest was Quaid-e-Azam’s personal grocery list, displayed in the office of the first head of the State Bank. Equally intriguing was a cheque signed by him, which also drew considerable interest from the students.
This trip provided our children with a unique and distinctive learning experience, not only familiarizing them with the history of money and currency but also helping them gain a deeper understanding of the significant functions and duties of the State Bank of Pakistan.
