The 27th Junior Section Annual Swimming Gala was a wonderful two-day event filled with energy, excitement, and plenty of fun, held on Thursday, October 31st, and Friday, November 1st. Designed to celebrate and support swimmers of all levels, this gala brought our young swimmers together to showcase their skills in an engaging and festive setting.

The Year III Gala on Thursday marked  the first gala experience for our Year III students. This non-competitive and inclusive event allowed each child to show off what they had learned in swimming lessons in a friendly, encouraging environment. Family and friends cheered on as our young swimmers made waves, adding an extra layer of excitement to this memorable occasion.

Friday saw the Year IV, V, and VI swimmers take to the pool,entertaining the crowd with their speed and proficiency in multiple swimming styles, including backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle. Representing their Houses, the swimmers participated in both individual events and team relays, fostering a healthy competitive spirit and emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork.

In honour of Founders Day, marking 177 years, which also coincided with Papworth House’s 25th anniversary, the atmosphere was especially festive, culminating in a celebratory ice cream treat for all our students.

This year’s overall victory went to Frere House, with Napier House, Papworth House, and Streeton House following in close succession. Congratulations to all our swimmers for their dedication, effort, and enthusiastic participation that made this event a success!
