The Junior Section Award Ceremonies for all six year groups were held on campus during the months of April and May to recognise and celebrate the achievements and successes of every Junior Section pupil.
In recognition of this being the final Junior Section Award Ceremony for the Year VI students, teachers from Years III–VI, attired in their academic regalia, entered the Auditorium as part of a formal academic procession to warm applause and cheers from parents and students. Earlier, the Year II Awards Ceremony also featured an academic procession comprising teachers from Nursery to Year II, adding a sense of occasion and tradition to the proceedings.
The ceremonies commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, setting a dignified and celebratory tone for the events.
The audience was then treated to a stirring performance by the school band’s drumline The students, clearly well-prepared and enthusiastic, showcased their musical talent, teamwork, and impressive drumming skills, earning enthusiastic appreciation from those in attendance.
The distribution of awards then commenced, with children coming on stage to receive their certificates, shake hands with the Principal, and have their photographs taken amidst the applause of parents, peers, and teachers. Certificates were awarded across a wide range of categories, including Excellence in Dramatic Reading, Thinking and Reasoning, Persistent Endeavour, Citizenship Knowledge, Having an Inquiring Mind, and Excellence in Sports. Academic Achievement Awards for position holders, as well as Most Improved Pupil Awards, were presented to students in Years IV, V, and VI.
Interspersed throughout the certificate presentations were a variety of poems, songs, and skits performed by the students, much to the delight of the audience. The ceremonies also included addresses by the Headmistress, Mrs Farooq, and the Principal, Dr Lander, both of whom highlighted the importance of the holistic development of children and reaffirmed KGS’s belief that learning beyond the classroom is just as important as academic achievement within it. In his address, Dr Lander also reflected on the significance of the occasion as it marked Mrs Farooq’s final Junior Section Award Ceremony before her retirement at the end of the term, paying tribute to her longstanding commitment and invaluable contribution to KGS.
A special moment during the Year VI ceremony was the acknowledgement of new Jubilarians from the domestic staff, Sham Sadu and Mir Afzal Khan, as well as Mr Fabian Bob from the Junior Section Sports Department, in recognition of their commitment, loyalty, and dedicated service to the school community.
The ceremonies concluded with a vote of thanks, a medley of songs, and the School Song. Parents were then invited to visit the Inner Courtyard, where they enjoyed a beautiful display of their children’s artwork.
Congratulations to all the award recipients, performers, teachers, and parents for making these ceremonies such memorable and meaningful celebrations of achievement, effort, and growth.
