The 26th Junior Section Annual Swimming Gala was a two day aquatic festival designed to cater to JS swimmers of all abilities and levels. This was held after a hiatus of four years due to the lockdown and restrictions, on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd of November.
The Year III Gala, recognized and celebrated the skills our young swimmers achieved during swimming lessons. This was a fun, inclusive and non-competitive occasion, designed to encourage the children to demonstrate their prowess as individuals and teams in a coordinated and safe environment. Making the Year IIIs first ever gala even better were the cheers and support of parents and friends.
Friday, 3rd November saw swimmers from Years IV- VI make a splash as they participated in the largest JS gala yet. This multi-skilled and multi-event occasion saw our swimmers demonstrating their speed and skill in a variety of swimming disciplines, including backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. The children represented their ‘Houses’ both in individual events as well as the highly competitive relay and individual medley races.
While the Swimming Gala for Years IV, V and VI encouraged a positive competitive spirit, the overall message was about participation, sportsmanship and doing your best. Encouraged by the cheers of their ‘House’, friends and parents, our JS swimmers thoroughly enjoyed the gala.
Overall success went to Streeton House, followed by Frere House, Papworth House, and Napier House.
