Junior Section Annual Sports Day 2026

Junior

Friday, 13th February was a special and lively day for the children of the Junior Section. Students from every year group came together on the field to take part in the Annual Junior Section Sports Day 2026. The grounds were filled with colour, excitement and happy anticipation as the events unfolded. The presence of parents added warmth and encouragement, making the day even more meaningful for the children.

Members of the Junior Section Band assembled smartly on the field alongside the Scouts and Guides contingent for the Guard of Honour. The morning formally began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mr. Tariq Qaiser — alumnus, architect, environmentalist, filmmaker and writer. He and his wife were presented with a collection of indigenous plants, highlighting the school’s continued focus on sustainability.

Following the National Anthem and the oath-taking ceremony, the competition officially commenced with a disciplined and confident March Past by Years V and VI. This was followed by a dynamic and sharply coordinated P.E. display by the Junior Section students in their House T-shirts — a strong showcase of rhythm, control and teamwork.

The Year VI Skills Display set an enthusiastic tone for the day. The girls performed synchronized cartwheels with grace, while the boys demonstrated forward roll leaps, a speedy run into a hoop jump and somersault, finishing with the challenging ladder jump. Their effort and focus were met with warm applause.

Track events and novelty races soon followed, with students competing class-wise in sprints and skill-based challenges. The focus remained on giving their best, finishing strong and supporting teammates.  Parents and teachers cheered wholeheartedly, creating a positive and uplifting atmosphere.

For the first time, two major events ran simultaneously — the Year VI Field Finals on the field and the Year III Novelty Races on the track — adding pace and intensity to the programme. Races for parents, teachers and domestic staff brought a lively edge to the day and were thoroughly enjoyed by the children.

The inter-house relays proved to be the highlight. The newly introduced circular relays for Year V boys and girls, along with separate shuttle relays for Years III and IV, were closely fought and decided by the narrowest of margins. Determination, speed and seamless baton changes made for gripping finishes.

Sports Day was not just about results, but about resilience, coordination, confidence and sportsmanship in action.

Congratulations to Streeton House for winning both the March Past Trophy and emerging as the overall winning House.  Well done to all our students for their enthusiasm, determination and wonderful school spirit.
