The morning began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mrs.Yasmin Mehta,Grammar School alumna and former Assistant Headmistress of the Junior Section, followed by the playing of the National Anthem by the Junior Section Band.After the oath taking ceremony, the Annual Sports Day began with a formal march past by Years VI and V, followed by an energetic P.E display in which all the children of the Junior Section participated, proudly wearing their House colours.

Children competed class-wise in sprint races and different skill-based novelty events, focusing on doing it right, finishing and cheering each other on. As the races and events began, parents and teachers filled the air with cheers and lots of encouragement for the young athletes.Much to the delight of the children there were even races for the parents, teachers and domestic staff .

The sports events were punctuated by a unique demonstration of  Shotokan style Karate by the children of Year V and a colourful and rhythmic display of classic Zumba moves by the students of Year VI, both part of the extended movement and Sports curriculum.

Sports Day at the Junior Section was not just about competition. It was about children being physically active, learning the basics of sports and building age appropriate coordination and motor skills, thereby giving them an opportunity to display their self-confidence, patience and sportsmanship.

The fiercely competitive inter-house relays with nail biting finishes, speeches from the Headmistress and Chief Guest, capped off a wonderful day of athletic activity; leaving the children with lasting memories of an eventful  and exciting day!

Well done to all the students for their enthusiasm and school spirit! Kudos to Streeton House for being the winning House and Syed Jaffer Husain Shah for being the Junior Section athletics victor!
