The Junior Section 2024 Concert, Timeless Tales, was a heartwarming tribute and living legacy to Mrs. Norma Fernandes, the beloved former Headmistress of the Kindergarten and Junior Sections, who passed away early this year. Held with great enthusiasm, this year’s concert celebrated her vision of inclusive artistic expression, which has inspired generations of students.
Mrs. Fernandes pioneered the tradition of an annual concert involving every Junior Section student, whether through acting, singing, or dancing. Her belief in fostering confidence, creativity, and collaboration through performance became a cornerstone of the Junior Section’s cultural life. Timeless Tales brought this vision to life, showcasing the talents of our young performers.
The concert featured excerpts from past plays, starting with a nostalgic piece from The Wizard of Oz, the first full-school production directed by Mrs. Fernandes. This opening tribute reminded us of the magic and joy she introduced to our school. As the evening unfolded, students brought iconic characters to life, each embodying timeless lessons. From Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales, filled with magic and wisdom, to Aladdin’s moonlit carpet ride with Princess Jasmine, discovering adventure and love. Mowgli in The Jungle Book learned about the value of friendship, while Simba in The Lion King embraced “Hakuna Matata”,finding joy in living in the moment.
Timeless Tales was not just a concert but a tribute to Mrs. Fernandes’ artistic journey and her lasting impact on our school community. We are deeply grateful for her dedication to nurturing creativity, and we will always cherish the memories she helped create.
A heartfelt thank you to the Junior Section students, teachers, and staff for their hard work in making this tribute truly memorable. We look forward to carrying forward Mrs. Fernandes’ vision for many years to come, ensuring that every child’s voice is heard and celebrated on stage.
