JS Award Days

Junior

24 May 2023

The Junior Section Awards Day is a celebration of each student’s skills, strengths and talent. After a gap of three years, the event was held on campus for all year groups over a four day period, 19th to 24th May, 2023.

In recognition of this being the last Award ceremony in the Junior Section for the Year VIs and also to mark the 175th anniversary of KGS, the teachers of the Junior Section attired in their academic regalia, entered the Auditorium as part of an academic procession, amidst the applause and cheers of parents and students.

The audience consisted of the students, their parents and the Junior Section teachers, who had gathered for the occasion in the school’s Auditorium. The Headmistress and the Principal addressed the audience, acknowledging the children’s achievements and emphasising on the importance of the holistic development of each child.

The audience was treated to a rather unique performance by the school band’s drumline. It was lovely to see their confidence and energy as they skilfully manoeuvred their drumsticks, all the while maintaining rhythm and keeping to the beat.

The distribution of awards commenced with children coming on stage, receiving their certificate, shaking hands with the Principal and having their photograph taken. Certificates were given in a variety of categories ranging from ‘Proficiency in Verbal Communication’, ‘Collaboration & Team Spirit’, ‘Musical Intelligence’, ‘Out of the Box Thinking & Creativity’, ‘Mathematical Computation’ and ‘Academic Achievement’. Much to the delight of their parents, the distribution of Certificates was interspersed with the children showcasing their singing, acting and elocution skills.

The ceremony concluded with a note of thanks and the singing of the school song. Parents were then invited to see a beautiful display of their children’s art work, outside in the Inner Courtyard.

Congratulations – children, parents and teachers!
