A favourite and eagerly awaited activity on the JS Scouts and Guides calendar is the annual ‘Nature Hike’. Friday, 19th January proved to be the perfect afternoon for this troop outing, sunny with a pleasant breeze.
The children were encouraged to experience their surroundings by seeing, hearing, touching, and even using their sense of smell as they walked to the park. The Scouts and Guides thoroughly enjoyed interacting with nature in their own inventive ways, as they explored the landscape and discovered a whole host of creatures. Playing games, eating a delicious snack and spending time together in the outdoors helped them bond as a pack. The Scouts and Guides commented on how the excitement of participating in the treasure hunt activity added to the fun and enjoyment of the afternoon.
After appropriately disposing of their litter and leaving the place cleaner than they had found it, the Scouts and Guides rounded off a memorable outing.
