Over four days, each Year I section visited a pizza parlour, where classroom learning was brought to life through a hands-on and engaging real-world experience. The visit provided opportunities to make meaningful connections across Mathematics and Science as the children explored familiar concepts in a new setting.
In Mathematics, the children explored fractions by observing how pizzas are divided into equal parts. They also shared their favourite pizza flavours, which will later be represented through bar graphs. The visit also linked to Science and the five senses, as the children used their senses to explore different ingredients, noticing how they looked, smelled, felt and tasted.
The children enjoyed every part of the experience, discovering that learning can happen in the most unexpected places – even at a pizza parlour!
