Children from Years III–VI visited the Karachi Arts Council on separate days to watch an Urdu theatre production of Mowgli. The play followed Mowgli, a boy found and raised in the jungle, as he learned to survive alongside his animal friends, Baloo and Bagheera, while facing the danger posed by Sher Khan. Filled with humour, adventure and imagination, the production explored themes of bravery, kindness, friendship and making responsible choices.

For Years III and IV, the performance brought a familiar story to life through colourful characters, humour and action. The children were able to follow Mowgli’s adventures while recognising the importance of friendship, courage and helping others. Experiencing the story in Urdu also gave them an opportunity to enjoy the language in a lively and entertaining setting.

The Years V and VI children were encouraged to appreciate the performance from a different perspective, noticing the skills involved in bringing a story to the stage. They observed the actors’ voice projection, expression, movement and ability to engage the audience, giving them an insight into the art of theatrical performance.

The visit offered all the children a welcome opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience the atmosphere of a live theatre. Sharing a matinee performance with their friends, particularly in Urdu, made the outing both enjoyable and meaningful, leaving them with lasting memories as well as valuable lessons from the story.
