The Head of Teaching and Leadership Development

The Head of Teaching and Leadership Development oversees the strategic growth, professional learning, and instructional quality across Karachi Grammar School. Aligned with the vision of Benchmark 2030, this role leads the design and implementation of professional development pathways, ensures robust alignment with the KGS Teacher Standards, and manages institutional partnerships. By embedding reflective practice, performance management metrics, and evidence-based pedagogy into school culture, the Head TLD supports teachers and school leaders in delivering high-quality, international-standard education.

College of Teaching and Leadership

The College of Teaching and Leadership serves as the professional learning hub for Karachi Grammar School, dedicated to empowering educators and driving academic excellence through continuous learning pathways. Working in close alignment with internal observation frameworks and the KGS Teacher Standards, the College ensures all staff have access to accredited qualifications and world-class professional development.

Key initiatives and partnerships include:

• B.Ed. Programmes & University MoUs:
  Driving teacher licensing and formal qualification by establishing strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with premier local institutions and universities such as Institute of Education – Aga Khan University, Notre Dame Institute of Education, Institute of Business Management and SZABIST. The College facilitates financial support and structured pathways for teachers pursuing 1.5 or 2.5 B.Ed programmes. 

• HMC pathways:
  HMC The Independent Schools’ Qualification in Academic Management (ISQAM): The Independent Schools’ Qualification in Academic Management (ISQAM) is an accredited professional development framework offered by the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC) specifically for academic leaders in independent schools. Designed for Heads of Department, Subject Leaders, and Academic Directors, ISQAM strengthens strategic leadership, curriculum design, and instructional quality across subject areas.
  
  HMC Pastoral Leadership Qualification: Designed for Head of Years, Housemasters/Housemistresses, and Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs). This qualification equips pastoral leaders with advanced skills in student well-being, safeguarding, mental health support frameworks, and building inclusive, supportive school cultures.

   

  HMC & AGBIS Good Governance Programme: In partnership with the Association of Governing Bodies of Independent Schools (AGBIS), this initiative supports senior executive leaders, Heads, and Governors. It focuses on strategic oversight, financial sustainability, risk management, and maintaining robust legal and ethical governance structures.

   

• Commonwealth Education Trust Courses: Partnering with global platforms to offer flexible, high-impact online courses that strengthen foundational pedagogy, literacy, and active learning strategies in the classroom.

   

• Tes Educare Professional Development Programme
  As part of our commitment to maintaining international educational standards, all teaching staff across Karachi Grammar School have completed the Tes Educare professional development programme. This comprehensive training equips our educators with up-to-date expertise in whole-school safeguarding, child protection, first aid, online safety, and pupil well-being,By establishing a shared baseline in health, safety, and statutory duty of care, this initiative ensures our entire faculty fosters a safe, inclusive, and highly supportive learning environment across all school sections.

• British Council Partner Schools Network: Leveraging global network access to participate in international teacher exchanges, British Council accreditation schemes, and continuous professional development workshops tailored to international curriculum delivery.

• Edwise
  Karachi Grammar School partnered with Edwise to deliver a specialized AI for Educators: Balancing Technology & Learning module, equipping our faculty with the knowledge and practical skills needed to integrate Generative AI responsibly into the classroom. Grounded in the UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Teachers, this professional development initiative focused on leveraging advanced AI models—such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and NotebookLM—to enhance lesson planning, create differentiated teaching resources, and design accurate assessment rubrics.
